Design FC Year 5 Fundraiser

As we celebrate our 5th year anniversary we’re excited to launch our Year 5 fundraising campaign.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 to expand our programs.

Design can change a kids life, and open them up to a world of transformative experiences and opportunities.

With your continued support we will drastically change the way our students view themselves and their futures, and provide them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to pursue their creative dreams.

CHESTER PROGRAMMING

  • Developing the next generation of Design FC student leaders.

This Fall, we plan to welcome the first ever cohort of Junior Design Coaches (6th grade), who have just graduated from Stetser Elementary. Students will return to Stetser once a week to assist Design FC staff in running programming, and will learn to become classroom leaders by mentoring younger students through various design projects.

Our Junior Coaches will also continue to hone their own creative skills through independent design projects. For students attending a new school, having the opportunity to return to a familiar place can be incredibly comforting during a time of transition. Further, creating a program that empowers them to become leaders within a school setting, will help build critical interpersonal and social skills that will serve them during the formative years of their adolescence.

  • Exposing our students to industry leaders in the sport, media, and design worlds.

For our older students (7-12) grades, we are actively looking to create exposure opportunities within the fields of sports, media, and design. As we continue to build our network within these industries, our goal is to show our students different career paths and provide them with the information they need to make decisions about their future careers. This will primarily happen through experiential learning trips to NYC, to meet with industry leaders and visit offices of some of the biggest names in design, sport, and media.

  • Hosting public city-wide workshops giving kids the opportunity to learn from our industry partners and Chester based creatives. Exposing youth to different creative mediums.

As our program grows in Chester, we are looking to find ways to leverage our growing network of partners to bring resources to the city through community workshops. Further, we want to use these workshops to introduce our students to the incredible arts movement in downtown Chester.

YOUTH CREATIVE COLLECTIVE

  • Leveraging partners from previous projects to bring multi-week Design FC Programming to cities around the United States

Over the past 5 years we’ve worked with a number of professional sports teams, brands, and national non-profits to bring Design FC programming to youth around the country. The next phase is to use these projects and partners to create substantial, sustainable programming in select cities.

  • Connecting students from programs in different cities through collaborative design projects.

The next step in our growing network of like minded professional sports teams, leagues, brands, and non-profit organizations. Within the next year we will launch our first cross-city project, connecting our young designers in Chester to students across the country.

  • Creating a national DFC Academy

Identify highly engaged students to join the Design FC Youth Studio, giving them access to industry partners, resources, exposure opportunities, and projects. The Youth Studio would be a centralized group of students from across the country, working with Design FC partners on a range of creative projects.
