Telling stories through jersey design
Founded in 2018, Design FC works uses design to transform the lives of youth in under-resourced communities. Through specialized after school programs and design workshops, we teach students creative thinking, self-expression, and autobiographical storytelling skills through the design of sport jerseys and apparel.
As part of our programs, each student designs their own unique sport jersey, in which they visually express what means most to them, their families, their community, their future aspirations, the changes they want to see in the world, and what means most to them.

01/ Self Reflection: Students reflect on who they are, where they’re from, their future aspirations, the changes they want to see in the world, and what means most to them.
02/ Ideation: Creative thinking + brainstorming activities to help students think of various ways to express everything they came up with in the self-reflection stage.
03/ Visual Expression: Finding creative ways to bring ideas, thoughts, and emotions to life through design.
04/ Prototyping: Students go through multiple versions and design proofs to get their jersey ready for production.
05/ Showcase + Storytelling: Tell the story of your jersey. Showcase your work. Reflect on the design process.
