Start Date: December 1st
Location: New York (3 days per week in person)
Hours: Full Time

Who we are

Design FC is a youth design organization that teaches creative thinking, self-expression, and autobiographical storytelling through the design of sport jerseys / apparel. Through various design programs and initiatives, we provide youth with life changing experiences, opportunities, and access, while giving them a platform to creatively express who they are.

Since 2018 Design FC has connected youth with some of the biggest names in the sport, design, and tech worlds, including Adidas, New Balance, EA Sports, MLS, NBA, WNBA, Bayern Munich, Bay FC and more.

We run two core programs: Design FC After School, where students learn creative thinking and autobiographical storytelling through the design of a custom sports jersey, and The Jersey Project, where youth design create a jersey for their team in collaboration with professional teams, athletes, and brands. Both connect young people to real world partners and open pathways into design and creative industries.

We are a small and growing organization, and this role will be our third full time hire. That means you will be stepping in at a pivotal moment, shaping the strategic growth of our programs nationally.

  • The Director of Programs will lead the expansion and oversight of Design FC’s programs. This is a strategic, partnership-driven role focused on building relationships with professional teams, athletes, brands, community organizations, schools, and teachers. You will be responsible for making sure programs run well, creating projects that give students unique opportunities with partners, and building out systems to track impact.

The Director of Programs will spend significant time cultivating new partnerships with pro teams, brands, and schools, while also maintaining and growing existing relationships to ensure long-term impact.

You’ll join a small team currently made up of our Executive Director and COO, working closely with them while also managing part-time facilitators and project staff.

Over time, you will also help us connect youth across cities, creating a national network of youth designers, and connecting them with the biggest names in the worlds of sport, design, and tech.

    • Build Powerful Partnerships: Develop and manage relationships with professional teams, athletes, and brands to co-create and sponsor programs and initiatives. You’ll lead outreach and relationship management with partners, working closely with leadership to secure long-term agreements.

    • Design Pathways: Create projects that link young people directly to professional or brand partners, creating meaningful experiences and real world exposure.

    • Measure Impact: Build on Design FC’s existing impact measurement systems to measure outcomes across schools and partnerships.

  • You are someone who is excited about building a creative movement for impact within the worlds of sport and design. You thrive on building partnerships, and have a deep passion for working with youth. You are ready to join a small, agile, and ambitious team committed to redefining what creative education looks like.
